There is no tryout fee for any FIRM AC AAU team. However, you will be charged a $20 facility fee when you attend a tryout. This fee pays for use of the gym and ensures open access and equal opportunity for all participants. Players that attend both sessions will only have to pay once. All players should have reversibles with their names on the back. If you don't have a printed name on the back, simply put tape across the back and put your name on the back with marker.
WHY PLAY AAU BASKETBALL for the FIRM A.C.?
•
The opportunity to play on the same team and share travel experiences with talented players from other schools breaks up the normal routine of playing exclusively with a school team.
•
Better competition is available outside our own area than if a player sticks only with school-based basketball at a local level.
•
The opportunity to meet and compete against good players from other AAU teams and at tournament venues outside our area is a broadening experience for school-age players.
•
Players and parents benefit from meeting the parents of their child's teammates and in sharing travel and competition experiences with their children.
•
The AAU season (which is largely in the months of March, April and May) provides an excellent bridge between the end of the scholastic season and the beginning of the summer league season.
•
AAU tournament basketball gives scholastic players a leg up when competing for their scholastic teams.
3 More Reasons
#1 - Development
The athletes on travel teams are placed by tryout, so they learn and compete with others at their age and proficiency level. Practice occurs twice per week with focus on skill development as well as team instruction. Competition opportunities include the weekend tournaments and scrimmages as available.
#2 - Exposure
Tournament schedules are built to support athlete exposure for teams 15 and above. We cover all the East Coast venues as well as AAU Nationals, Hoopgroup, Blue Chip and US Junior Nationals.
#3 - Opportunities
Based upon the success of the team, they may qualify to attend AAU national level tournaments. While this presents a higher financial commitment, the positive life experience associated with national tournament attendance is an opportunity every athlete should have.
